My daughter, Hannah, and I had a great experience shopping at Richard’s Stride Rite located at 70 Main Street in Sayville. This cute shoe store has a lot to offer its customers. They carry several name brand shoes for your kids, such as Saucony, Merrell, Keds, Sperry, Hush Puppies and more.
Richard and his staff are very down to earth, friendly and have lots of patience, especially with my daughter. My daughter loves to look her best, but she is not all about shoe shopping. I, on the other hand, love shoe shopping.
We went shopping around 4pm on a Monday, and it was the perfect time to go. We pretty much had the store to ourselves and Richard’s full customer service. Hannah and I looked around at all the shoes first before she decided on what she wanted to try on. Richard’s Stride Rite carries all types of shoes that vary from babies first walking shoes to toddler shoes to big kid shoes. They carry sneakers, sandals, dress shoes and lots more.
After about 10 minutes or so, Hannah had found her first pair of shoes she wanted to try on. They were black Sperry dress shoes, the perfect shoe for her to wear with dresses. Next, I wanted Hannah to pick out sneakers. We camp and do a lot of outside activities, so extra sneakers are always needed in our house. She picked out a couple of different pairs of sneakers from pull ons (no laces for the days she is too lazy to tie her shoes), to velcro to sneakers with laces. Once she knew what she wanted to try on, Richard went and brought back what he had in stock in her size and also took it upon himself to bring other styles out that he thought she might like. To me, that’s great customer service.
So now the trying on begins. Hannah tried on about 8 different pairs of sneakers, and if you know my daughter she either likes something or doesn’t. There is no in between with her. The black Sperry dress shoes were the first YES. Those shoes were really cute on her. Next up was the battle of the sneakers. She tried them on and took a lap around the store. No after no, she wasn’t feeling it for any of them. Richard than went to go see what Merrell sneakers he had in stock just in her size that may of not been out on display. He comes back with a pink pair of slip on Merrell sneakers and SCORE! Another pair she loved! All the other shoes she picked out she wasn’t thrilled with the fit or how they looked on. We took one more look around to see if she liked anything else. I spotted a pair of Saucony sneakers in a dusty rose shimmer color, that were super cute and I wanted her to try on. She wasn’t crazy about them, but I insisted on her trying them on. I feel some things look better on your feet than on display. Hannah tried them on and before you know it, pair number three is coming home with us. Woohoo, shoe shopping with Hannah was painless thanks to Richard and his great customer service and patience with my 8 year old.
Richard offers a V.I.P. card, which allows you to save $10 on a purchase over $35 after you purchase 6 pairs of shoes. We are halfway there. Richard rang up our purchases and before you knew it, we were on our way. Thank you again for a great experience, we will be back.
