Like many of you I am trying to keep my kids active and busy at home. We go outside when it is nice out, homeschool daily, and create fun crafts. Rainbows over Nassau and Suffolk Counties and Beyond has inspired us to make rainbow crafts and drawings. The Facebook group started off as a rainbow hunt for families to get outside, walk, and look for rainbows. Now the group has become so much more with all the rainbows people are posting to promote hope and happiness. We decided to make a Rainbow Rock Garden. It took us several days as we went through each of the steps and kept the kids busy and excited.
1. Go on a rock hunt. We hunted for rocks in our back and front yard. Some were easy to find, and some we had to get a little dirty for and dig up.
2. Clean off the rocks. Soap, water, and a bucket. We cleaned all of the dirt off the rocks and let them sit in the sun to dry.
3. Paint the rocks. We used acrylic paints (and wore old clothes). We chose our colors, rocks, and painted both sides.
4. Spray the rocks. We used a clear spray paint sealer on the rocks so that they will last in the outdoors.
5. Rainbow Rock Garden. We scattered our rainbow rocks all over the garden to admire.
