A recent family emergency where my dad called me needing to get to the hospital for an injury, but didn't want to get stuck with an ambulance bill. This left me scrambling to try and get a volunteer fire department ambulance to him. The situation really got me thinking afterward. Do I have quick access to the phone numbers I may need if I am ever in a situation myself? Who is the right person to contact? Do I have an emergency plan? Have I talked to my kids about what they need to do?
You hear these crazy stories on the news about toddlers who call 911 and save their parents lives. Honestly I've never even talked to my kids (ages 5, 3, 1) about 911. But I definitely think it's time to have that talk with my 5 year old. Also, it is time for me to save those important phone numbers into my phone so there is no scrambling if the time ever arrises (knock on wood).
